Festival weekend hits new record
Well the sun stayed out for the eighth annual Burnley Community Festival.
As the sun shone on Queen's Park, Burnley, thousands of people made their way into the hive of activity that was the festival, taking part in the various activities, soaking up the eclectic music on stage and getting lots of goodies from the different stalls.
The stage bus was home to a diverse mix of musical talents, including local bands selected from artists who entered a competition to play, to nationally acclaimed singer songwriters O*Hooley and Tidow. They joined the Red Rosettes barbershop group and bands Sunday Club and Doghouse.
The Gran Turismo groovy grannies were one of the highlights of the day, entertaining visitors with their motorised trollies and lively musical act.
Children got involved in sports and play activities, workshops for dance, drama, circus skills and arts and crafts, and much more.
Burnley Community Festival was organised by Burnley Council, with kind sponsorship from Burnley Community Network, Stocks Massey Bequest Fund, and Perspectives of Pennine Lancashire, to help celebrate what makes Burnley special.
Burnley Community Festival was set up so that residents and visitors alike can celebrate what makes Burnley special.
Each year an important part of the day is the amount of community groups that come along and promote the great work they do in the borough throughout the year.
