Former Mayor of Burnley passes away

Our condolences go to the family of the former Mayor of Burnley, Ken Butterworth, who has sadly passed away at his home in Great Yarmouth.

Mr Butterworth served as Mayor in 1984/85. 

 

He joined Burnley Council in 1973 and represented Bank Hall ward for Labour. He retired from the council in 1995.

 

 

He is survived by his son John, also of Great Yarmouth.

 

 

The Union flag is being flown at half mast above Burnley Town Hall as a mark of respect.

 

 

The current Mayor, Councillor Howard Baker, has sent a letter of condolence to the family.
