Home improvement

Through these pages we aim to provide you with information on many areas of improving or repairing your property regardless of your circumstances.

What does the Council offer?

Although the Council would like to help everybody in the Borough, the lack of adequate resources means that the Council can only provide direct financial help to a limited number of people.

In terms of grants it therefore gives priority to particularly types of households who are felt to be either in the greatest need, or who would find it very difficult or impossible to have the work done. Grants are therefore targeted at older people, people living with disabilities and households who cannot afford an adequate level of warmth in their homes.

The housing renewal policy sets out Burnley council`s policies in relation to private sector renewal and focusses specifically on the provision of financial assistance and other forms of assistance that the council is able to offer to improve the standards of housing and the quality of life for qualifying residents. It constitutes a revision of the private sector housing renewal policy, which was approved by the council`s Executive in 2007.
