To listen - we will try to help you and respond positively to your requests - whilst our positions as landlord and trader may at times be opposite and therefore we may not always agree, we will however hear your side and tell you, why if we may not be able to do something.

  • We will try to find a way to make things happen, not throw up barriers to prevent things from happening.
  • We will be open and transparent with our dealings.
  • We will keep you advised of any major issues that could be affecting the Markets.
  • We will seek to hold regular representative trader meetings and where possible use associations/federations as formal consultation mechanisms.
  • We will seek to respond to any trader request for information within 24 hours, if not immediately available to answer such requests.
  • We will comply with Health and Safety legislation and also offer advice where necessary to ensure a safe working environment.
  • We will seek to keep our operations as flexible as possible to try to help traders.
  • We will try to keep rules and regulations to a minimum.
  • We will seek to take a flexible approach where personal circumstances may be impacting upon trader's ability to trade.
  • We will support legal trading rights to consumers but also advise customers and traders if not trading within Consumer Rights Legislation.
  • If there is any action taken by a trader that warrants removal or potential removal from the Market, through issues of gross misconduct, we will be "firm but fair" in this process.
  • We will allow a process of appeal through representation - minor unsatisfactory situations may result in a traffic lights warning system:
    • green warning to red instruction to leave with such correspondence copied to your Representative Association.
  • We will seek to involve Representative Associations in negotiated rent issues for the Market Hall wherever we can, rather than imposition.
  • We will seek to maintain an overall "balance of trade" of products sold, within the Market Hall, but subject to review in line with vacancy rates.
  • We will operate a more relaxed "balance of trade" policy in the Open Market
