Trading at Burnley Market
What can we expect from tenants/traders
- Rent paid on time - no arrears.
- To trade in accordance with the published hours of opening and closing.
- To respect user clauses and not sell products not licensed to sell.
- To remove any line requested by Markets Management (pending an appeal process if such a request was not felt warranted).
- To treat the premises with respect.
- To treat everybody with respect and be prepared to listen to other persons' views.
- To respect health and safety issues.
- To comply with practical operational instructions/rules of the market
- To comply with consumer rights legislation.
- To comply with food safety regulations
- To treat customers fairly and at all times with respect.
- To trade with public liability insurance in place at a minimum level of £1m when trading as a business.
- To recognise that at times decisions taken for the benefit of the Market as whole, may not suit the individual needs of a tenant/trader. The Market is a Retail Business where customers seek the offer, are not worried about individuals. As landlords we have to try to strike a balance that is right for customer and tenant/trader.
