Welcome to Burnley’s new leisure and fitness facilities in the towns latest flagship development, the St. Peters Centre, Church Street, Burnley.

The new St Peters Centre, a brand new £29 million development, incorporating the councils new state-of-the-art leisure facilities, is the first of its kind in the country, housing health and leisure facilities in one building, making it a proud new landmark for the town.

Working in close partnership with the Primary Care Trust Burnley Council is delighted to offer these superb facilities for the people of Burnley to encourage their health and wellbeing.

This superb facility has been made possible by funding from Burnley Council, Sport England, Single Regeneration Budget and the Neighbourhood Renewal Programme.

The new St Peter's Health and Leisure Centre opened on 6th March 2006.

St Peter's Leisure Centre Opening Times:

Monday to Friday 9 am to 10 pm
Saturday & Sunday 9 am to 8 pm

The state of the art facilities include:

Swimming Pools

Two pools will provide a wide range of aquatic activities as well as accommodating the local swimming clubs. The six lane main pool will measure 25m x 15.4m and will have the latest lifesaving technology installed that detects if someone is motionless on the bottom of the pool.

Technology doesn’t finish there - the training pool measures 12m x 10m and will have a moveable pool floor, allowing greater use of the pool - from parent and toddlers in the shallow water to sub-aqua diving to a depth of 2.5 metres.

All this can be viewed in comfort from the 200 seater spectator area.

The Fitness Suite

The 90-station Fitness Suite doubles what’s currently on offer at the Thompson Centre. The gymnasium will continue to be fitted out with equipment supplied by Precor. All this is enhanced with a fantastic audiovisual entertainment system comprising of four 42” plasma TV’s with individual viewing screens on selected pieces of CV equipment.

Group Fitness Studios

Facilities continue to double with two dance studios providing the latest body training system workouts (BodyPump, BodyStep, BodyCombat, BodyBalance) as well as the popular spinning, aerobics, Time Of Your Life and BEEP classes. Both studios will have maple sprung floors, mirrored walls and top quality sound and light systems built in as standard.

Squash

Continuing with the dry sports provision, the centre will have two glass back squash courts to allow better spectator viewing and coaching. Separate male and female dry changing facilities will be provided as well as a wet sport village changing area.

Main Sports Hall

The main four-court sports hall will accommodate a variety of activities including badminton, basketball, netball, football and short mat bowls. To complement this an additional practice hall is situated off the main sports hall to facilitate martial arts, trampolining and gymnastics.

Health Suite

The Health Studio will comprise of Sauna, Steam, Spa Pool and relaxation area located adjacent to the swimming pool so you can relax, unwind and step out for a nice refreshing dip in the pool – perfect!

Child’s Play

A crèche for the under 5s will be available for visitors to the centre.

clear membership cardBecome a member from as little as £19 – staff will help you fill out a simple application form.

The benefits are Clear – access to the latest facilities St Peter’s, the new Spirit of Sport Centre at St Theodore’s High School, Burnley, and Padiham Leisure Centre.

But don’t feel under any pressure – you can “pay as you play” without becoming a member, just like you could at the Thompson Centre.
