This watercolour was selected as a painting of the month by Mrs Cynthia Ramsay of Burnley. Her father was the artist and her brother and mother are seen in this painting. He was a pottery teacher at Burnley College.

The painting was given to Towneley by Wilfred Dean, honorary secretary of the Art Gallery and Museum sub-committee, in 1940. He purchased it from the Local Artists' Exhibition, at Towneley in 1939.

In the 1950s, the painting was on display in the Edward Stocks Massey Watercolour Gallery, placed between "Grapes and a Pineapple" by William Henry Hunt (1790-1864) and "Off Caernarvon" by Thomas Sewell Robins (1814-1880).
