Since the official opening of Towneley Park in 1902 millions of people have enjoyed its facilities. Continuing this fine tradition we are hosting a free weekend of fun, food and festivities.

 Towneley Heritage Celebration

 A weekend of FREE family fun

 11th-13th June 2010 Hall & Parkland

Join the celebration of this multi-million pound restoration of Towneley's unique historic heritage.

Friday night

  • 7.30pm an exciting Bat Walk round Towneley's grounds and woods

Saturday

  • 10.00 - 4.00pm Lancashire Food Festival & craft stalls
  • 10.00 - 1200noon woodland works with the Forest of Burnley
  • 2.15pm Nature Trail with the Towneley Ranger starting at Riverside car park

Sunday

  • 1.00 - 2.00 Teddy Bears picnic, bring your bear!!
  • 2.00pm Celebration parade leaves Unity College lead by Burnley Bhangra Brass Bandits, dress up in tea party clothes and join in at the Riverside car park
  • 3.00pm Bacup Britannia Coconut Dancers & Stacksteads band
  • 3.30pm Traditional games from the Sam Hanna films
  • 12.00 - 4.00pm afternoon tea in the marquee on the rear lawn
  • 1.00 - 4.00pm Clarets Penalty Shoot Out competition, all welcome!

Saturday & Sunday

  • Offshoots permaculture open for visitors and demonstrations including traditional fruit and vegetable growing, bee keeping, heritage chair making
  • Pitch & Putt competition for families
  • Bowls open days and a chance to have a go on Towneley's bowling greens
