Councillor Andy Tatchell will move:
That we, the Mayor and Councillors of the Borough of Burnley here assembled,
pursuant to Section 249 (5) of the Local Government Act 1972, resolve that James
Anderson is admitted to be an Honorary Freeman of the Borough in recognition of his
outstanding cricketing achievements.
He was part of the England Cricket Team winning the Ashes in 2011, the first
England player to take a one-day international hat-trick and was also part of
Lancashire’s 2011 County Championship winning team taking the crucial last wicket
against Yorkshire at Liverpool. He is generally regarded as the world’s best swing

esteem in which he is held by the citizens of Burnley we do confer on him the
Freedom of the Borough.
