Burnley Armed Forces Covenant Group invites you to join us in 'Flying the Flag for the Forces Family' during Armed Forces week between 20th – 26th June.
Armed Forces Day is dedicated to honouring the work of the UK’s brave service men and women, past and present. In June, if you’re looking for an opportunity to show your support for the armed forces community, why not fly your own Armed Forces Day flag.
Armed Forces week will be especially poignant this year as we emerge from the National Lockdown to mingle, at last, freely with family and friends. Whilst this has been a unique experience for the majority, not so for those in Forces families where active service can result in lengthy separation as a matter of course. With the lifting of, what we hope will be, the final restrictions and the joyous reunion of much missed loved ones the Burnley Armed Forces Covenant Group invites you to join us in 'Flying the Flag for the Forces Family' during Armed Forces week between 20th – 26th June.
So why join us in flying the Flag – this an ideal opportunity to celebrate our membership of one enormous family within a Union of Nations, cultures and creeds as well as acknowledging the special role the Armed Services have at the heart of this Nation, especially here in Burnley and the North West. There are many Forces and ex forces children across our Borough yet we know very little of their experiences or those of their parents. What an opportunity to rectify this and gain understanding and knowledge of a unique side of life.
To that end we would be delighted if you would join us in the creation of Union Jack pictures and banners for display in your windows and on railings.
This year, why not print out and prepare some bunting to hang in your home or outside your front door to show your support? All you need to do is print it off, cut out the triangles and attach to some string or ribbon! For those who like a challenge, there are also some black and white versions which you can print off and colour in. Enjoy!

Do you have any budding artists in your family or community who would like to show their support? Why not print off one of our colouring-in sheets and display it in your window? You could even post a photo of your masterpieces onto Facebook or Twitter and tag the Armed Forces Day accounts…
