Qualifying residents across the borough of Burnley can access a new energy-efficiency grant scheme, announced by the Government, worth up to £10,000 per property

The grant is available via Cosy Homes in Lancashire (CHiL),  the affordable warmth initiative established by the 15 local authorities in Lancashire, including Burnley Council, with the aim of reducing fuel poverty across the county.

Advice for clinically extremely vulnerable people on voting in May elections

On Thursday 6th May voters across the borough of Burnley will go to the polls for the borough, county council and Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner elections.

These elections will take place at a time when Covid-19 continues to present risks to public health.

If you have been identified as being clinically extremely vulnerable, and therefore advised to take precautionary shielding measures, you can be certain that voting will be safe and Covid secure.

The safest way to vote and have your voice heard is by post.

Council sets out updated plans to tackle homelessness

Councillors are set to approve plans to tackle homelessness in the borough over the next five years.

A report to the council’s scrutiny committee recommends it approves the homelessness and rough sleeping strategy 2021-26 when the committee meets next week.

The committee is also being asked to approve the allocation of funds to help tackle the issues.

The strategy was drafted following a six-week consultation.

If agreed by scrutiny, both recommendations will go to the executive for final approval.
