Burnley Together to prepare and deliver 800 Christmas Eve meals
Burnley Together will prepare and deliver 800 cooked two-course Christmas dinners on Christmas Eve for the elderly and vulnerable living in the community.
This year has brought unprecedented challenges to everyone and there are many that will spend Christmas Day on their own or are not able to afford a meal for their family.
The 800 vital meals will be produced by Burnley Leisure’s hospitality chefs at the onsite kitchen facilities at Birchall Foodservice, based at Burnley Bridge business park.
Council considers "free after 3" parking scheme
Burnley Council is considering introducing a "free after 3" car parking scheme to help boost the local economy.
If agreed, motorists will be able to park for free on all council-run car parks across the borough from 3pm, every day of the week. Charges will still apply at other times of the day.
The scheme would run for a three-month trial period, starting on 20th February 2021. It would then be reviewed with a view to extending it further.
The proposals will be discussed with town centre businesses before any final decision is made.
