Parts of Burnley get crime-fighting cash boost

Burnley is one of only two areas in Lancashire to receive funding to help reduce crime and make communities safer.

The Safer Streets funding will be used in specific crime “hot spots” and will be aimed at making residents feel safer in their homes.

New CCTV networks, motion sensor lights, secure gates and doors and motorbike barriers are just some of the measures that could be implemented in parts of the Bank Hall and Burnley Wood areas.

New Covid-19 restrictions coming into force

New Covid-19 restrictions are due to come into effect in Burnley, and across most of the rest of Lancashire, from Tuesday (22nd Sept).
 
They mean that:
  • Residents must not socialise with other people outside of their own households or support bubble in private homes and gardens
  • Hospitality for food and drink will be restricted to table service only
  • Late night operating hours will be restricted, with leisure and entertainment venues including restaurants, pubs, and cinemas, required to close between 10pm to 5am.
