Trebor has appointed Barnfield Construction Limited as itsprincipal contractor to carry out the construction, with a start on the site next to UCLan/Burnley College in January 2017 for completion in summer 2017.

Primark is coming to Burnley

Burnley Council has welcomed the announcement that Primark is establishing a new store in Burnley town centre.

Politicians and town hall officials have worked closely with Addington Capital on the deal, which will bring the popular clothes retailer to Charter Walk Shopping Centre.

The new Primark store will be on Curzon Street, next door to Next, in space which is currently occupied by Wilko.

Negotiations on community buildings

Burnley Councillors look set to give the green light to negotiations which will see responsibility for several community buildings in the borough transfer to charities and community groups.

A report to next week’s Executive meeting proposes that long leases could be established next year for three buildings: Burnley Wood Community Centre; the Vanguard Centre; and Linkbridge, on Swinless Street.

Town centre businesses back “keep it clean” call

Town centre traders in Burnley have thrown their weight behind a campaign to encourage people to keep the shopping centre clean and tidy.

Work on a £3 million regeneration of the centre has been temporarily suspended to make sure that it does not disrupt the busy run-up to Christmas. But the work that has been completed so far gives a taste of how fresh and modern Burnley centre will look once the scheme is completed.

And traders are keen to get shoppers and other visitors on board to help keep it that way.
