Anyone interested in becoming a borough councillor is being invited to attend a briefing session at Burnley Town Hall in March.

Local elections will be held on 3rd May when voters will choose who represents them on Burnley Council.

An informal information session for anyone interested in standing as a candidate to become a borough councillor, or as an election agent, will be held at 5pm on Wednesday 7th March.

The refurbished gym at Padiham Leisure Centre has been officially opened.

The new-look gym was has been refurbished with financial support from Burnley Council which has been spent on new state-of-the-art equipment.

Councillor Pate, executive member for community services, said: “Burnley Council and Burnley Leisure have invested in creating a great community asset for Padiham and the wider area and I’m sure everyone who uses the gym will enjoy using the new facilities.”

Work has begun on the restoration of the pavilion and boathouse at Thompson Park, Burnley, as part of a wider £1.2m Heritage Lottery-funded project.

The boathouse will be transformed into a café that will allow people to stay in the park for longer and enjoy views of the boating lake and play area. 

Burnley Leisure Trust will be managing the café and the space inside will be transformable for activities and groups that the trust runs.  There will also be extra seating on the terrace and new storage units for boats and kayaks.

Two Burnley councillors will be pounding the treadmill to help raise money to help Army veterans during the official opening of the refurbished Padiham Leisure Centre gym.

The new-look gym will be officially unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday (16th Jan).The gym has been refurbished with financial support from Burnley Council which has been spent on new state of the art equipment.
