Birchall thanked for sports award support

Release date:
Tuesday, 10 July, 2018

Finals preparations are being made for the biggest night of the year for Burnley’s sports stars of the future – and the clubs and individuals who support them.

The annual Burnley Community Sport Awards pay tribute to those who show dedication at a range of levels or those who work tirelessly to support individuals or community clubs, for the love of the sport and their community. The awards are being organised by Burnley Leisure.

The annual prize presentation will take place at Burnley Mechanics Theatre on Thursday 19th July with Olympic gold medallist sprinter Jason Gardener as guest speaker.

The awards were established to recognise and celebrate the contributions and achievements of local people and communities to sport, physical activity, and community development.

Organisers have thanked the main sponsor of the event – Birchall Foodservice – and other sponsors for their support.

Michelle Grimes, events and funding officer with Burnley Leisure, said: “We want to say ‘thank you’ to all our sponsors for supporting the event. Without local businesses support we couldn’t put on such events and recognise local people’s contribution to sport and physical activity.”

As well as Birchall as event sponsor, the following are award sponsors - KM accountants, Burnley Play Partnership, Surridge Sport, Girls Up&Active and Burnley School Sports Partnership.
