Burnley’s new Local Plan was submitted for independent examination by a Government-appointed inspector in 2017.
Following his consideration of the plan and the representations made, including at the examination hearing sessions in November and December 2017, the inspector proposed a number of main modifications (ie changes to the Submitted Plan that he considers necessary to make it ‘sound’).
At this point the inspector has not formally made his recommendations, as before doing so in his final report he must first consider any comments on the proposed main modifications and they must be subject to sustainability appraisal and Habitats Regulations assessment.
Comments on these modifications are now invited from Friday 9th March 2018 to midnight on Friday 27th April 2018.
It is important to note that only comments on the proposed main modifications will be considered by the inspector. This is not a further opportunity to comment on other matters set out in the Submitted Plan as comments on these matters these have already been considered.
Copies of the Schedule of Proposed Main Modifications and accompanying assessments and maps, together with details of how to comment, are available on the council’s website www.burnley.gov.uk/residents/planning/planning-policy/burnleys-emerging-local-plan/burnley-local-plan-main-modifications-consultationor can be inspected at Contact Burnley, Burnley Town Hall (via the examination programme officer) and Burnley Central and Padiham libraries.
Queries on the consultation exercise should be addressed to firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01282 425011 and ask for planning policy.
