It’s Christmas party time in Burnley town centre

Release date:
Wednesday, 7 November, 2018

Burnley's Christmas Party takes place tomorrow (Saturday 17th November) from 10am to 5.30pm.

This exciting event will mark the start of the festive season in Burnley town centre and will be a magical day filled with seasonal attractions.

From 10am you're invited to take part in an amazing Christmas Movie themed Ice Sculpture Trail, with nine ice sculptures located around the town centre.  Guess which movie the sculptures are from correctly and you'll be entered into a free prize draw, plus there will be lots of brilliant selfie opportunities!

From noon our performance stage on the pedestrianised part of St James' Street, kindly supplied by Fagan & Whalley Ltd, will feature music and dance performances from talented local singers and groups.

Among the performers confirmed so far are the Contempo Choir, Next Level Dance, Unique Dance & Fitness and local singers Tom Scothern and Jay Stansfield.

Throughout the day there will be Burnley Market's festive street market, roaming character performers, Bjorn the Polar Bear, children's fairground rides, and Christmas Elf & Fairy Workshops on Burnley Market.

There will be a festive family switch on show from It's My Party taking place from 4.30pm with the switch on and a magical firework display at approximately 5pm.

This year, in partnership with a local newspaper, we’ve run an exciting competition to be a Burnley's Christmas Party Star and perform Christmas songs on stage in front of a massive audience.

The event is organised by Burnley Council’s town centre management and Burnley Markets staff and Charter Walk shopping centre.  It's supported by town centre partners including Pennine Community Credit Union, Burnley Leisure, McDonalds and Tesco Burnley.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas with Burnley's Christmas Party!
