Professional and budding artists are set to pick up their paintbrushes and descend to Padiham for an open-air painting competition on Saturday 13th May.
The first ever Painting Padiham event will see artists of all skills competing against each other using a wide range of styles and media.
The event will kick off at 8am at the newly opened the Storm Art Gallery in Burnley Road, where artists will receive their painting supplies before occupying their spots.
They will be dotted within a one-mile radius around Padiham Town Hall capturing scenes of the town.
Artists who would like to take part can register online at http://padiham.org.uk/painting-padiham
Catherine Price, Burnley and Padiham town centre manager, said: “If you would like to develop your painting skills there is no better place than to actually get out on the streets with experienced artists.
“It’s a chance for less experienced people to paint side by side with professionals and there are not many places in the country where you can do that.
“The Padiham event is open to all ages and anyone who is a keen painter so get out your brushes and come down and have a go.”
Painting Padiham entries will go on display at the Picture House Gallery as part of a four-week exhibition commencing on 20th May. On the opening day visitors will be able to vote and decide the winners.
First prize will scoop £1,000, donated by A1 Motor Stores of Burnley Road, Padiham.
Winning submissions will be framed by the Picture House Gallery and put up for sale during the exhibition.
Artists taking part in the Painting Padiham event were invited to submit up to two pieces of their original work to be showcased at StormArt Gallery and other town centre venues in the week prior to the event. These works will also be available to purchase.
