Proposed Parliamentary boundary changes

Release date:
Tuesday, 8 June, 2021
The Boundary Commission has published proposals for the new Parliamentary boundaries.

A summary of the proposals for the Burnley constituency are set out below and a map is available here

The proposals only apply to Parliamentary boundary - the existing borough council and wards would remain the same.

The proposals would see:

Briercliffe, and Lanehead wards move from the Borough of Burnley into the Pendle constituency.

Extending the Burnley constituency south by including the five easternmost wards of the Borough of Rossendale and calling the new constituency Burnley and Bacup.

An eight-week public consultation period has commenced. This will be the first time the public will get a chance to see what their new constituencies might look like, and give the Commission their views on the proposals. You can find out more and give your views at www.bcereviews.org.uk.
