How to request a search
Requesting an official search - There are full instructions on the Local Land Charge Search forms. Your solicitor will have these forms or you can buy them from law stationers.
Both the LLC1 and CON29 forms should be submitted at the same time if answers to both are required.
Searches must include the following when submitted to be accepted for processing:-
If a search is submitted by a solicitor by post, cheques drawn on the solicitor's client account are requested, made payable to 'Burnley Borough Council' for the correct amount as set out in the schedule of fees. Clients' own cheques are not accepted as a method of payment.
The correct address quoted together with an up to date scale plan in duplicate showing the extent and location of the land subject of search, clearly edged in red.
An official search can be requested by post to Burnley Borough Council, Local Land Charges, Town Hall, Manchester Road, Burnley BB11 9SA.
Searches can also be ordered online at burnley.gov.uk and paid for by credit or debit card. Click 'Pay for it' tab at the top of the page and choose 'Land Search', the site will then take you through the process. We also accept searches electronically via NLIS.
All searches are returned electronically.
Virtually all searches are completed and returned within 10 working days and the average turnaround is 6 working days.
