Burnley Council no longer owns any properties, having transferred its housing stock in 2000 to Calico Housing Association.
However, we can still help people with permanent housing through our nominations scheme.
All of the housing associations that provide accommodation in Burnley have an agreement that they will allocate a percentage of their vacancies to people nominated by the council. Associations usually have a 50% agreement but this can vary between associations and individual schemes.
When we are contacted by an association with a vacancy we select up to three people from our waiting list. Applicants are selected on the basis of the number of points they have been awarded under our allocations scheme, with the highest pointed applicants being selected first.
How do I apply to the Council?
Contact the council's housing advice team at Red Lion Street, Burnley or ring us on 01282 425011.
Over the next few months the council is reviewing its nomination agreements and the above information may be subject to change.
