Energy efficiency

Energy Efficiency in the home

Ensuring that your home is energy efficient not only reduces carbon emissions but can also save you money on your energy bills. Measures such as insulating the loft and walls of your home, installing an energy efficient boiler and installing double glazing are some of the ways you can make your home energy efficient. For more information about energy saving in the home visit the Energy Saving Trust.

Cosy Homes in Lancashire (ChiL)

We are working with local authorities in Lancashire to help households access funding for energy-related improvements to their homes.

If your property including park homes is suitable you may be able to have a number of energy efficiency improvements installed in your home for free including loft insulation and cavity wall insulation.

To find out if you qualify, either call Cosy Homes in Lancashire on 03306 061 488.

Eligible Households

Owner occupiers living in the borough of Burnley.

Amount of grant

£300 if the property already has gas central heating. If the property has never had a central heating system or currently there is a grant of £1,000.00 towards the cost of central heating.

Grants process

The heating rebate scheme is available from the Council's Housing & Development Control Unit.

The Local Authority Green Homes Grant Scheme

The Government’s ‘Green Homes Grant’ is now available toBurnley residents.

The grant is worth up to £10,000 per property and eligible measures are free for owner-occupiers. Landlords can apply but a contribution will be expected in every case.

This means that you could get your home winter-ready and the ‘Cosy Homes in Lancashire’ initiative will pick up the bill to help you get warmer, and stay warmer in future for less money.
