Burnley town centre is already a great place to shop, with big branches of well-known chain stores, cafes and small independent shops, as well as Burnley Market.
To keep our centre up to date, and make it even more attractive, we’re going to invest £3 million on improvements to the pedestrianised area.
That matches recent investment in Charter Walk, and will have knock on benefits for the businesses in important areas right next to the town centre: Standish Street, St James Street and Manchester Road.

The map gives an indication of how Burnley Borough Council and Lancashire County Council are thinking about delivering improvements, and create flexible, attractive, open spaces that will be easy to maintain.
We have recently carried out consultation on the proposals, and have had lots of useful points, suggestions and question on issues like street furniture (benches, paving, lighting, CCTV, litter bins, bollards) and landscaping (trees, planters, hanging baskets), and many other issues.
